Octavia smiled as she drank the wine and she watched him. She could tell there was something that he was hiding from her, since she would catch him staring at her. She knew that she was attractive, since she had been told so many times. She hoped that if Lucius was attracted to her, that it would not interfer with the relationship between Celtiberia and the Roman Republic. Octavia sighed and removed the pin that was in her hair, letting it fall down her back in brown waves.
"The senate is corrupt. Power corrupts people, Lucius. They don't even know it is happening until it is to late. Don't give into your thirst for power, if that is what you desire. I hope it is not, for both our sakes." Octavia said as she glanced over his shoulder and at the servant, who seemed to be trying to sneak in. He ran up to her, bowing. "Mi'lady, there is a messenger outside who would like to speak to you." He said as Octavia nodded and began to walk to the door. But, she froze in her tracks when she felt something cold touching her neck. "Back off, or she dies." The servant said, who was behind Octavia with a dagger to her throat. Octavia looked at Lucius, giving him a look that obvious meant to buy some time.

After Lucius had drunk finished, his look still were upon Octavia. The way she watched him back in return, was both lovely as it were incredible. It seemed as if she understood what he felt inside, although nothing was said between them during the silence. Hopefully the close friendship they had would not ruin anything for the future, specially as Lucius already were married with the queen of Etrusca. Still he believed the Celtic lady was amazing in her own way, the nice skin and cloths she had truly made his desire grow within. However steady and calm he stood watching, but enchanted in magic as she removed the pin out from her hair to make it all loosen up.
After a short moment of being together, speaking. A servant entered and called for Octavia, as she went closer to listen a surprise suddenly appeared. It was an assassin who grabbed her, threatening to kill her if anyone came closer. Everywhere guards stepped forth, but kept distance away as unsure they were what to do. Lucius was afraid, hoping the assassin would not kill the queen since important she was for the future. If she were to die, the Celtic people would believe it was the romans who did it. Something which would make everything dangerous if it happened, at least Lucius and his guards would do whatever they could to rescue her."Wait!"Lucius shouted, worried as deep into the eyes of Octavia he watched. "Realise her, there is no way for you escape. Let her go and you might escape with your life!"He spoke out loudly, trying to frighten the assassin as well he wanted to buy some more time. Perhaps Octavia herself had an idea what to do, even afraid she looked with the knife close to her face.

Octavia looked at Lucius as she felt the cold blade touch her neck. Her hand shifted, showing the pin that she had removed from her hand. She smirked at Lucius and in a flash, she shoved the pin into the would-be assassin's thigh. The assassin yelled as Octavia grabbed his arm with the knife in it and she pulled it away from her neck. She swung around, her hand staying on his arm as she kicked him back. The assassin stumbled back and he began to charge at Octavia again with the dagger. She easily side stepped him and disarmed him of the blade, holding it in her right hand as she grabbed his left hand and she plunged the blade into his stomach.
The assassin's eyes widened as his head went onto her shoulder and he looked at Lucius. "Who do you work for?" Octavia whispered in his ear. The assassin let out a grunt and Octavia took that as he didn't want to answer her. She pushed the blade deeper into him as he let out another loud groan. "Glory to the Senate." The assassin said before Octavia yanked the blade out of his stomach and let him fall on the ground, dead. Octavia looked at the knife in her hand before she dropped it on the ground.
Octavia turned back around to face Lucius, her eyes going to his. "Turns out they are already going after me." Octavia said as she closed her eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath to relax her nerves. "The senate grossly underestimates me. They will have to send an army to kill me, not a single man with a knife." Octavia said as she turned to look at the mans body. She rolled him over with her foot, so that she could look at his face. "What should we do, Lucius?" Octavia asked, turning her head to look at him.

As Octavia was captured by the assassin, Lucius did nothing else then watch worried. However surprised became when she suddenly got herself loose, something he had hoped she would manage. He knew she was strong, but amazed was by the skills she showed. When she and the assassin fought, Lucius and the soldiers came rushing to help. However by that time, the enemy already was wounded enough. Curious Lucius watched as Octavia asked questions to the assassin, although not before death approached he would answer. The words that was spoken, was not pleasing at all. As it seemed the senate had given orders to kill Octavia, to make her people think Lucius killed her.
As the assassin died and when she turned to look at him, Lucius listened to what was spoken but answered seriously in return."We shall give the senate exactly what they deserve. let us take this body and tell the people what have happened. How cruel the senators in Rome are, hopefully that will change their thoughts about them."He said, looking at Octavia as still worried he was about her condition. Closer he came, but nodded to some guards beside them to pick the body up.

Octavia didn't say anything as she looked down at the dead assassin. When she heard Lucius speak to her, she nodded in agreement. When he came closer to her, she looked at him. "The Senate will have to think twice now if they want to kill me. But, thankfully, this will help us in our cause. I can now openly declare war on the Roman Senate so that it will make it easier for us to over-throw them." Octavia said as she crossed her arms and she walked towards the window again.
"I find it funny. How hard it is to achieve peace and how easy it is to wage war. It is almost as if the Gods have only destined us to fight among each other. As much as I wanted Celtiberia to be at peace, I knew that could never happen. Ever since Carthage had taken over our southern coast, we had to fight back. Perhaps fighting is a will to survive for one person and a goal of conquest for another. Tell me, Lucius..." Octavia said, turning around to face him. "Do you fight for survival or for conquest?" She asked, a curious look on her face.

Lucius looked interested at Octavia as she spoke, every word that was said were true and honest. The senate truly now would be in big problems as their assassin failed, together the Celtibarian queen and Roman General would now stand united against any threat that would appear. Close friends they had become, but stronger bonded as more care they showed for each other. When she went to look out the window, he curiously watched as he listened. Not far away from where they stood, the servants was cleaning the floor from blood as the dead body of the assassin were put away until orders was given to bring him out.
"I fight for survival, as I always have."Lucius answered seriously, but kept the look of interest as she asked the question. Closer he approached to where she stood, facing her with a smile. "When Rome was close to ruin, I helped to keep it alive. Now as I have given them everything, they turn against me. If they wish for war, then I will fight to survive."He spoke with a whispering voice, wondering what she thought but hoped she would help as earlier told.

Octavia nodded as she listened to him. "As do we all. I am sure that we will be able to survive these dark times." Octavia said as she crossed her arms and she continued to look out the window. "My people need a strong leader. They all look up to me so that I may watch out for their best interests. I know this war with Carthage is something they want, but we have lost so much in return. Even now, my people still trust me to make the right decision for them." Octavia said as she looked at him.
Octavia glanced around and noticed a balchany and she began to walk towards it. She need air, since she was trying to relax herself after almost being killed. She opened the door and walked out onto it, feeling the breeze blow her hair gently. She held up her right hand and she whistled a tune that was native in her land. A few seconds later, there was the call of an owl. She smiled as Arpenia, her barn owl, flew down from the sky and swooped around her before landing on her hand. She lowered her hand and Arpenia moved from her hand to the middle of her arm, making sure that her claws did not dig into Octavia.
Octavia turned around and walked back inside, petting Arpenia on the head gently as she walked over to Lucius. "This is Arpenia. I have had her since I was little and she was still in her egg. She is the one I turn to that will calm me down, especially since I was almost killed today." Octavia said as Arpenia gave out a soft hoot as Octavia rubbed her head gently. Octavia knew that having a pet owl was a sign of wisdom, since most people didn't have a owl as a pet.

Lucius who stood close to Octavia as she answered, listened intensively on what she said. What she said truly was true, as he knew how difficult it was to be a leader. However as she was a woman, without any man by her side, he could only imagen how difficult it was for her alone. When she turned and left to look out the balcony who where not far away, he watched but slowly followed. Although space he gave her, as not long ago they had been attacked. At least Lucius hoped she was alright, even she seemed upset about what had happened.
In the door opening of the balcony he watched as her owl came flying down, it was a fascinating look but silent he stood. When she came over and continued speaking, he listened with a smile. The owl she had close and touched was a wonderful animal, who showed clearly that Octavia must be a smart woman. Not many would manage to handle such a bird, who so proud sat upon the queens hand. In return to what she said, he answered with a look on her and the owl."Really?, wow...its a pretty bird you got there my friend. I am sure you must have a lot of wisdom if you can keep one of these, must be a good animal to have in case danger appear."He said with a smile, trying to give a compliment as he hoped it worked.

Octavia smiled as Arpenia gave out a soft hoot. "Yes, she watches over me." Octavia said as she rubbed her owl's head gently. "Lucius, I want you to listen to me. If an assassin came to kill me and I was able to fight him off, what would have happened to your son? He would not be able to defend himself and no matter how many guards you may put around him, it will not be enough." Octavia said as she looked at Lucius and Arpenia also turned her head to look at him.
"Let me take your son to Celtiberia. He will be safer there then he is here. When this war is over with the Roman Republic, I will bring him back. But, he is not safe here. Even you know that is true. Don't let your pride get in the way of your son's safety. Please, Lucius, let me take him back with me. I will watch over him and protect him." Octavia said, a pleading look in her eyes. She wanted to keep his son from danger, it was the least she could do to help.

"My son? You wish to take my new born son to Celtibaria, while I fight my war against the senate?.."Lucius spoke and wondered what to answer, it made him worried although knew he could trust Octavia. She was a wonderful woman with many abilities, hopefully she would be able to handle it. However a different culture and land she had then his, which surely would effect the child by living there. Although more and more Celtibaria had turned into a civilized country as Rome, something that was good for them all. Still Lucius feared wars could happen where she lived, even Carthage would soon no longer exist."Well I will send him with you, if it truly is safer where you live. However I am not sure how my wife will take it, as close bonded she already is with the new born child." He said serious and kind, glad Octavia was up for the task but worried what his wife Julia would think.
Still the child didn't belong Lucius, but belonged to the previous husband of his wife who had died in war. As Rome had taken over and Julia was the only royalty left of the Etruscan land, they had married through an agreement. In secret they decided to keep the son alive, so together they could be united. Although Lucius didn't really want the son alive, as dangerous it could be for the future. Probably it would be good to send the child away, but difficult Lucius knew it would be for Julia.

Octavia smiled as he agreed. It would be best if he did come to her lands and if anyone asked who the child was, she would claim it to be her sister's. Hopefully it wasn't common knowledge in her land that she had no brothers or sisters. Octavia nodded as he spoke about Julia and how she may react. She knew that she couldn't take the child away from a mother, so she crossed her arms as she thought. It would be obvious that she was protecting them and the senate would send more people after her, but what did it matter anymore?
Octavia looked at Lucius, a faint smile on her face. "Then tell Julia to come with me. That way she won't worry about her son and she will also be safe. But, if she is to come with me back to Celtiberia, she will have to be disquised as one of my handmaidens." Octavia suggested as she looked at Arpenia. She whispered something in Celtic to Arpenia and she closed her eyes as her and Arpenia's foreheads touched for a moment. Arpenia then moved to her shoulder before taking off and flying out the open door of the balcany. Octavia opened her eyes and looked at Lucius, a smile on her face.

"Hm, perhaps she should come with you. However I am not sure, if she leaves then the senate will start searching for her and my son. If they are found, then they will be used against me. It even may become dangerous for you and your country, maybe it would be best if my wife stayed home and my son went with you. By doing that, the people will think my son is still with me."Lucius answered, looking at Octavia kindly but hoped she would understand. It was not easy to be a Roman leader, one who often was threated by others that lived around.
(Sorry I haven`t replied in a while, been very busy.)

Octavia nodded as she listened to him. It would be safer for just his son to come back with her, but even then she knew she would have to have plenty of guards to protect him. "You are right. I will be keeping him in my chambers with me, with guards posted by all the entrances so that he will be safe." Octavia said as she looked at him. She knew it would be hard for him to let his son go, but it was for his safety. It would take the senate months before they figured out where the child went, and by then it would be to late for them to do anything.
"Where is he, Lucius?" Octavia asked as she looked at him, her brown eyes going to his. "I want to see him, if that is alright with you?" She asked, a smile on her calm and serenely beautiful features of her face.

What Octavia said made Lucius pleased, it was good to know she would take care of his son no matter what. As the war would began in Rome, danger could appear to anyone. As long those closest were safe, nothing bad could happen. With a slight worried smile, Lucius kept his eyes upon the woman in front. She was very beautiful, whom he adored, although knew their traditions and cultures were different. It was just a shame he already was married with a highly respected woman, he thought. As if he hadn't, he probably would had chosen another, perhaps someone like Octavia.
Kindly Lucius took his chance in stepping closer, but kept his eyes fixed upon hers. Carefully he moved his arm to take her hands in his, wanting to be sure his decision about his son was good."Very well, but promise me to take care of him as he goes with you,"He said, wanting her to answer again. Although at the same time he looked at her, a slight nod he gave a servant close by. Telling the servant she should bring the new born child to Lucius, such that Octavia could see him. After a short time of waiting, the baby boy was brought in by the servant and up to them.
