Well, now that the new term at university started, I finally have found something new to read: The Nibelungenlied, the original written in old german. Yay.

Effie Briest by Theodor Fontane... it's a german book, written in the 19th century, concerning a young woman who marries a man because of money and power, not out of love, and so ends up in an affair with another man, whom she does not love either, but she simply is bored, for her husband left her alone too often. Years later, as it happens so often, her husband finds out about this short affair, starts a duel with her ex-lover and kills him before ending their marriage. Effie then dies out of broken heart, because the husband even took her her daughter and changed her into an emotionless child, a copy of himself.

I'm reading the Simon Scarrow series about the Roman Invasion of Briton. It's pretty good so far I have read four of the eight books already.

Well, and a new book again. As I'm studying German I have to read for a German literature course. Well, I currently am reading Siddharta, written by Hermann Hesse. I already have read it a few years ago and remember how I have enjoyed reading it, so I decided to read it once more instead of asking my memory for help at the course.

I have just finished the latest Obernewtyn Chronicle- The Stone Key -by Isobell Carmody.
Summary of the Chronicles: In a world struggling back from the brink of apocalypse, life is harsh. But for Elspeth Gordie, born with enhanced mental abilities that would see her sterilised or burned if discovered, it is also dangerous. There is only survival by secrecy, and so she determines never to use her forbidden Talent. But it is as if they have their own imperative, and their use inevitably brings her to the attention of the totalitarian Council that rules the Land. Sent to the remote mountain institution of Obernewtyn where escape is impossible, she must throw off her cloak of concealment and pit herself against those who would resurrect the terrible forces of the apocalypse.
Only then will she learn most truly who and what she is...
