He got famous because his books were depressingly close to what life might be like if the Russians won the cold war e.g 1984. I have read another depressing book, The Beach, I have read it brfore but forgot how depressing it was. Can anyone suggest a happy book? Which is funny?

How about a "Series of Unfortunate Events"? Or "Noughts and Crosses"? I just read "Noughts and Crosses" by Malorie Blackman for something like the fifth time last night... I don't usually read books more than four times, so that just goes to show how great the book is.

Hmmm...
Garth Nix.. don't like his works very much. He has great plots, but I find his writing so dull. But hey, that is my opinion and everyone has different interests. I don't know, I just couldn't get into his books. I tried like four times, and sadly that was it, I gave up and have placed him on the list of authors I don't enjoy including George Orwell. The sad thing is because I do so much english classes at school, I gget stuck with all these books and actually have to read them... hmph
Apart from reading all the books I have listed in my above posts, I am now reading for the 10th time The Tomorrow Series by John Marsden. One of my favourite authors. I'd recommend these books to everyone, boys and girls, even though the narrator is a girl. They are a MUST read....lol

No I was going to buy it. I kinda skipped it because I had thought none of the previous characters were in it. The choice was between the Liveships trader trilogy and the Tawny man Trilogy. If your looking for books to read, I heard Robin Hobb wrote a new trilogy. It is in its own world and has nothing to do with the others but it still sounds good to me. I had read it thought. I think the name is the soldier son trilogy or something like that. Well, in a way the Liveship Trilogy does have something to do with the previous characters. It took me awhile to figure out, but The Fool actually exists in the Liveship Trilogy and that is how he comes to know everything about the dragons in the Tawny Man Trilogy. lol.... yep took me a second time around to figure it out. If you look at most of the covers on the Tawny Man Trilogy, especially on the last book (I think), the cover is not as simple as it appears. The character image on the blurb is actually two characters put together... it is really hard to depict, but very interesting once you see it. Yeah, I've heard of the new books. They are out now, I'm planning to get them as soon as possible. Robin Hobb is in my top writers lists. lol Currently Reading: Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell, The Sophocles Theban Plays and Weather Witch-- Book Three of the Crowthistle Cronicles (That is alot of reading...lol) Yeah well.. Since I Read the tawny man trilogy first i'm going to know who amber is...... But I hope that some how doesn't ruin the book for me. I'm pretty sure the Book's Cover is different in each continent. Actually I'm quite positive.. I looked at all of them and there didn't seem to be a blur..... I also read on Robin Hobb's site that she doesn't have much to do with the Cover art. The artist is who really comes up with the whole thing. But then again I could be an unreliable source... Finally there is a book that Robin Hobb is writing, which takes place in the same world as the others, and Chronologically after the tawny man trilogy. But apparent it has nothing to do with the older characters. Then again...

Finally there is a book that Robin Hobb is writing, which takes place in the same world as the others, and Chronologically after the tawny man trilogy. But apparent it has nothing to do with the older characters. Then again... Well the fact that you already know who Amber is, I don’t think will ruin it. If anything it will probably enhance your knowledge towards that character and see how developed and unique that character is. I definitely know what it is like to read the second series before the first, I’ve done that with many books without realising. However, according to my knowledge (if that is any good.. Lol) it shouldn’t ruin the story for you. I read that as well.. About the covers. However, I must credit the artist, like I said each cover is truly unique and sort of has a hidden agenda. It is just up to the viewer to look deep enough into the image to see all the different bits in it, that one wouldn’t see unless they were truly looking deep enough. I love artwork like that, and when they are added to books that are just amazing, it is a great combo. I’ve heard that hew new books take on the same world, without reference to the characters that she first began with. However, knowing Hobb I think there may be a little twist in it. (Just a thought, so don’t hold me to it)… I have an eerie feeling that somehow we might become re-acquainted with the Fool. That is just mere suspicion. So, I am not really sure. Kind of confused actually, how can you write books based after the Tawny Series without any character reference to the original characters?

Yet another weird and rather sad book read, The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks. REALLY WEIRD. I have started to reread the Emperor series by Conn Iggulden. It is a really good series on Julius Caesar, if you haven't read it I suggest you read them they give you a good insight into how the Roman army works.
