By the wars who had happened around Rome and other places, the senate had decided to send a messenger. It was a man who came with interesting news, however in quick speed he rode to search for Kai, the enemy king. When the castle of Italics was seen in distance, he slowed down until he stopped outside the city. Gentle he raised his hand to the air, shouting to the guards about him wanting to enter."I am the emissary of Rome, I bring words for your king."He spoke out loud, wondering if the enemy would respond or not. If the king would come out and speak, the war between them could change dramatically.

The gates were opened and a royal guardsman went out and escorted him to a throne room were Kai himself was resting. He looked up and saw the Roman messenger and said " What have you come for? I attack a country for land and you go and trigger a world wide war! I will listen to what you say but only because I want no more bloodshed." Kai leaned back and waited for the message.

The messenger who had come to speak, was glad to be accepted in meeting the king. Guards showed him the direction, but mostly he believed they were close to him in case something bad would happen. When he finally reached the king of italics and Illyria, he bowed deeply to show respect. After Kai spoke, the messenger answered with calm and serious words." Thank you sire."He stood up straight, looking at him but continued speaking."Rome wants to give you an option, lay down your weapons, become a province of the Roman Empire and we will give you the lives you deserve. If you accept, they will let you rule as you do but under the command of Rome itself. If you disagree, the fight will continue. However enough bloodshed has been spilt, together in peace we could manage it all. These are the words the senate has given me, what do you answer?"He spoke and asked, wondering what the king would say to such an offer.

Kai looked down on the messenger and said " What you say is one of the greatest insults you could say, however the fact I have so many blades against me, even in my own country. I shall put down my weapons, I shall do what Rome wants but I will not join you 'empire' The day I give up my people completely to the Romans is the day that I die, what say you messenger? Is this not a generous offer?" Kai looked upon the messenger waiting for the correct answer because if he gave the wrong one he would in the arms of his god's faster than you can say 'Salve'.

Silent the messenger looked upon the king speaking, but when finished he was unsure how to respond. It was not what Rome had requested, although peace would be good. In return he spoke, knowing that if the king was not pleased it would end badly."Your words are wise, o noble king of Italic and Illyria. However its not what Rome requests, they wishes our countries united. If a peace is to stand, then how can you guarantee you will not attack later when your force is big? Your offer is generous indeed, but not satisfying. Do you really want to cause your people death by your own actions, is it not better to have friends who can instead help each other then enemies who fights. If Rome cant have your country with peace and harmony, then we will take it by force and brutality. Still peace is good, but we doubt you like to help whenever we call like allies. On behalf of Rome, I will ask again. Do you or do you not accept the proposal?"

The King looked out of the window distracted and said "You ask me such a question? You would destroy my people? I would lose my armies and they would fight not for Illyria or their own people but for you in Rome. We would pay homage to different gods. And I would be second to your 'General', you call yourself a republic? That man is an emperor in all but name. I would become a 'slave' to you. My people puppets in your games of trickery and conquest. And still you ask me to 'unite'. I will do this but I want something from you in return, something I can barter with, a wife? a hostage? Something material so if you cross me, if you take my men I can strike back. I will join you but listen, my men will take orders from me and me alone. Do you understand? But first the hostage, oh also can you call your minions off in Illyria? They might hurt themselves. But back to the subject at hand the hostage."

"Rome is a republic sire, it has no emperor, only a senate. Lucius who mostly commands, are just a pro consul, not a ruler. If your lands join as an provinces of Rome, then you will be treated like all others. Like Etrusca who we just conquered, they are allowed to have their traditions and pray to gods they wish, thought ruled by a governor they are or will be. You may surely command your armies, but you would have to do as Rome command. Rules would be established that you would have to follow, although if a wife or hostage is what you wish in return then I believe we could arrange it yes." The messenger spoke in return, glad to hear the king accepting the offer even few changes he liked. Shortly after about what was said, he continued speaking."Rome has always wished to be a rich state, who control an area who is large. With your people joining it will create more interest to the common people, the gods we are curious to learn about and the traditions you may keep we would like to know. Our Empire would be great united, together we would learn from each other. Although if a wife or hostage is what you wish, then we would like to know the name of who you would like? Is there any special, or do you simply wants us to choose?"

The news he heard was fine, little was too change to his people but they must pay homage to the Romans, of course he would have to obey them but in his heart he was a free Illyrian, he would fight to the death if the situation changed for the worse. He gazed at the messenger for a bit and said " I have no preference, give me a list of possible hostages/brides and i will choose. I shall obey your rules, but if you cross me, I will kill you. I think that we should have a meeting you and your 'proconsul' he can talk to me face to face. We can walk out all the kinks, what do you think?"

"I think that would be a good idea, you could come on visit to Rome and celebrate. I am sure Lucius and Marius would be honored to see the king of the enemy coming on peaceful attention, there you could speak and maybe search for a suitable wife. I will give the words to Rome at ones, if not there are more you wish to respond?"The messenger spoke in return, happy about the news who was achieved by talking. With them united it would be good for both, not only would their population rise in number but also the land would be bigger then ever. As a republic with nobles they would rule the land, although governors would have responsibility for each province. Together they could rule the world, although small the thoughts was so far.

"I have nothing left to say, go leave, but tell them I shall arrive and when I have a bride we will be united together, there will be much enjoyment and hopefully we will prosper, but remember you traitor, you die." With this Kai stood up and left the room leaving the messenger. He needed to think about what he had done, he had just broke alliances and he needed to tell his generals and captains. He would split his men up to defend the lands he now had.

With that the messenger bowed to the king and quickly left to tell the news, the king of Illyria and Italic would soon come to Rome. Where he would meet the rulers, and to find a suitable wife. It would not be long before he could come on visit, thought Rome would greet him welcome as brother of the new Empire.
