King Baro walked nobly through Rome looking at all the great buildings watching the citizens shouting the prices of their goods to the crowds. He entered the grand doors of Rome's throne room and looked around, He saw wonderful statues of the previous kings that had reigned and the golden goblets on the many tables in the room. "Were is the man in charge?" asked the messenger, walking towards the throne.

The throne room the visitor entered was not for royals, but for senators and nobles. The sitting places was formed in a half circle around the room, as in front close to the doors was throne to the consul and proconsul. This was were they ruled Rome, but inside no one were. No meetings were to be spoken that day, although when the king of Apulia and Venti arrived, the guard answered his question."There is not only one man in charge of Rome sire, but many. This is the senate house, if you wish to speak with one of the nobles then we may tell him that you wish a meeting."With that said, the guard nodded to another so Lucius could come and meet the stranger.

Baro saw Lucius coming from the double doors at the otherside of the room with two guards either side of him. Lucius approached Baro. Baro glanced down at the two guards swords and quickly looked away. "King Lucius i have come here to ask why you have you declared war against my people? We have done nothing to offend you, we have been neutral. Why do you now suddenly declare war? I am here to ask you if you can be in peace with us?" Baro waited for a replie from General Lucius.

"A war yes, well Rome always have had the wishes to rule an Empire based on their own rules. However peace you say? hmm...that might be interesting yes. Thought is it something you want to achieve by saying this, or do you only feel threatened?"Lucius spoke, watching the king with great curiosity as his presence was not expected to see in Rome. It was interesting, but what would it lead into. An alliance, an expansion of the empire, or simply become enemies. It all was depending on how their conversation would go, although the king of Auplia and Venti seemed to come in peaceful attentions.

Baro was thinking about what Lucius said. "I have no real enemies and i wish to keep it that way. I am not proposing an alliance i just want to keep peace to the people of Apulia and Veneti. I have no intent for war. But if war is thrust open me i will smack it back in it's face. I have many fine soldiers and they are honourable men, i have faith in them, and they will kill for me! I know you are a very trustworthy man, and i respect you greatly. I have only come to declare peace i do not want to make any more complications for you. I hope we can both agree on that?" Baro was wondering were this would lead, if it was actually going to turn into a alliance or that General Lucius was going to take it the wrong way.

Lucius listened but turned silent after he finish spoke, it was interesting but he believed it could be better if some changes were made. After some seconds of thinking, he answered but careful in his words."Well peace without an alliance, that is a dangerous thing to accept. However wouldn't it be better if we united our countries, with Apulia and Veneti joining the Roman Empire we could become greater then ever. I am sure we then would reach an population of 4 million. Although thats up to you and decide, as if such an agreement were to take place then the land would not only be owned by you but also the Roman senate. What do you think, about uniting?"He spoke, wondering what he would answer. Although the Romans had the best odds if a war would appear, greater in number they were and easily they could crush Apulia and Veneti. It would be wise for their king to accept, if he did not wish war or other trouble.

Baro was not sure about these words but replied in haste. "your words are wise but i am no threat to you. I came here with no itention of uniting with the romans. I came here for peace... ...Which now could possibly turn into an alliance." Baro was thinking if this was going to lead to war if general Lucius did not like the propsal, Baro new that if war did start they would not stand a chance but his men would stand and fight to the death even if they were out numbered. But possibly he will accept the alliance and peace ca be returned." So General Lucius i have thought it over and i wish to make an alliance with the roman empire." Baro was waiting for the reply with angst. He new if this went wrong it would be over for Apulia and Veneti.

Lucius had the king now where he wanted, his lands were trapped and easily could be attacked by the Roman Empire. A dangerous treat it was which could be used to get threw with the wishes they wanted, although it also could lead to a new war. After having listened to the words the king spoke, he answered."Very well, an alliance then. I guess that could work as well, for now."With that said, the Romans would be in alliance with them but if they didn't do what Rome wished for in the future, then it all could go bad.

Baro was relieved to hear what Lucius had to say. " I'm am glad we have made an alliance, and we dont have to complicate things anymore. I thank you General Lucius, but now i must leave and get back to Veneti to talk to my senates." With that Baro walked out the two main doors and back into the Roman streets. Baro was thinking about what had been said back in the throne room, and was happy about what he had just done and agreed onbut there was one thing he was distracted about, what would happen if he did not do what Rome needed. But he put that aside and made haste to his horse ready to travel back to Veneti.

Lucius nodded, but said nothing more as he watched the king of Apulia and Veneti leave. An alliance was good, thought how long would it stay with all the hate that threatened Rome and its borders. Nothing was curtain, but still hope remained. A wise ruler, always prepare for war in times of peace. With the meeting ended, Lucius went back home.
